Summer Wedding on Detroit's Island Park

We have grown to love photographing in Detroit especially when it takes us back to Belle Isle for weddings. Belle Isle is a place with natural beauty unlike anywhere else in Detroit so it’s always a nice retreat from the normal chaos of the city. Still, there is something about spending your entire wedding day in Detroit from getting ready to the final goodbyes. It creates a mood for the day that other wedding venues in Michigan don’t seem to offer. When we arrived at the iconic Westin Hotel it wasn’t long before found ourselves moving through the busy streets to various photo spots around the city. Eventually, we wandered our way to the beautiful James Scott Memorial Fountain which was short-lived due to the summer heat. We quickly retreated to the Belle Isle Casino to take in some much-needed AC and prepared for the wedding ceremony. It wasn’t long before we had forgotten about the heat and guests were enjoying hors d’oeuvre and cocktails. The day ended as simply as it began as guests danced and celebrated with the bride and groom.
